Astana Medical University Overview
Astana Medical University is one of the largest and dynamically developing medical universities in our country, known for its high reputation in higher medical education, its own traditions in educational services, and the development of medical science and clinical activities. On October 26, 1964, the Council of Ministers of the Republic decided to open a medical institute in Tselinograd. In 1997, the institute was reorganized into an academy, and in January 2009, it achieved university status. Based on the decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the University became part of the National Medical Holding. Since July 2010, it has been under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
It should be noted that not only has the name and status of the university changed, but the number of specialties has increased, credit learning technologies and a three-stage education system have been introduced—bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral studies. The student population has grown, and active work is underway to incorporate innovative technologies into the educational process. The clinical bases of the University are the largest national and republican centers, subsidiaries of the National Medical Holding.
For many years, the University has been consistently ranked among the leading medical universities in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The University’s academic partners include leading universities in the USA, Singapore, Europe, and Russia. The university’s status presents new challenges in medical education and science, opening up broad prospects for sustainable and long-term development.

MBBS Eligibility in Astana Medical University
The MBBS eligibility at Astana Medical University adheres strictly to the rules set by the NMC for Indian students wishing to study abroad. Admission is based on MBBS eligibility criteria at Astana Medical University and the availability of seats at the time of application. The specific MBBS eligibility requirements for Indian students at Astana Medical University are as follows:
- 50% Marks: General category students must have secured 50% marks in PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) in their 12th/Inter/Equivalent examinations, while reserved category students must have at least 40% marks in the same subjects.
- NEET Qualification: Students must have qualified in the NEET exam either in the current year or in one of the previous two years (i.e., NEET must be qualified in either 2024, 2023, or 2022).
