INTRODUCTION
Al-Farabi Kazakh National University for Indian Students
Kazakh National University, also known as Kaz GU or Kaz NU, was established in 1934. Located in Almaty, the largest city and historic capital of Kazakhstan, it initially expanded with the creation of a humanities faculty in 1937, followed by philosophy in 1938 and journalism in 1941.
In 1991, following Kazakhstan’s independence from the Soviet Union, the university was renamed in honor of the 10th-century Arabic philosopher Al-Farabi, also known as Alparabius. By 2001, it had gained the status of a national university.
Kaz NU’s national prominence was confirmed in 2018 when it excelled in national scholarship examinations, attracting the most talented students, many of whom secured scholarships amid fierce competition.
The university comprises 15 schools and 64 academic departments, all situated on the 100-acre Kazgugrad campus in Almaty. A notable feature of the campus is a 15-story tower housing the university administration and the faculties of history, economics, law, philosophy, and journalism.
Kaz NU has established strong international ties, forming partnerships with over 300 universities worldwide, including recent agreements with Madrid Complutense and the American University of Ras al Khaimah. It also participates in the Erasmus REKT library project and the New Silk Road student program.
The university’s alumni associations provide more than 600 scholarships annually, and it operates a free legal clinic for the Almaty community.

- Basic Amenities: All rooms are well-furnished and centrally air-conditioned, featuring beds, bed sheets, mattresses, and study tables. Each hostel also has a common study room and elevators for students’ convenience.
- Laundry Facilities: Each floor of every hostel has a common laundry room accessible to all students on that floor.
- Kitchen Facilities: Each floor also has a common kitchen equipped with 2-3 electric burners and a microwave, allowing students to cook their meals as needed.
- Washrooms: Every room has an attached washroom and toilet.
- Gender Division: Separate hostels are provided for boys and girls.
- Security: The hostels are highly secure, with security cameras installed in each building. A 24-hour security checkpoint ensures that only authorized students can enter the hostels. Security staff is on duty around the clock.

Advisory to Indian Students
Program Duration:
- The duration of the MBBS program is 6 years, including clinical rotations and internship.
Internship and Clinical Rotations:
- Clinical rotations begin from the 4th year. The final two years are dedicated to hands-on clinical training.
- Internships can be undertaken at the university’s own clinics or affiliated hospitals.
Language of Instruction:
- The medium of instruction is English. However, learning basic Georgian or Russian is beneficial for effective communication during clinical practice.
Eligibility Criteria:
